SAN JOSE, Calif. – June 17, 2019 – A10 Networks (NYSE: ATEN) today announced that its Thunder® solutions received two awards at the Interop Tokyo 2019 exhibition that was held at the Makuhari Messe convention center near Tokyo. In the NFV/SDI category, its A10 Networks Thunder Containers high-performance NFV solutions won the Grand Prize, while in the Security category, its Thunder 14045 TPS DDoS defense solution with Zero-day Automated Protection (ZAP) capabilities won the Runner-up Prize.
Receiving the awards:
Now in its 26th year, Interop Tokyo is Japan’s largest internet technology exhibition. The Best of Show Awards recognize the excellence of new products, released by participating companies, through a judging committee of IT industry experts.
A10 Networks Thunder Containers is a cloud-native, light-weight set of container-based solutions for secure application services, offering A10 Thunder Application Delivery Controller (ADC), A10 Thunder Carrier-grade Networking (CGN) and A10 Thunder Convergent Firewall (CFW) in container environments. It offers the industry’s highest performing container solutions with up to 200 Gbps of throughput. They are the industry’s first container-based solutions for carrier-grade NAT (CGNAT) products, supporting migration to container environments in preparation for 5G commercialization by communications service providers. Thunder Containers is also supported with Kubernetes.
The judging committee explained the reasons for awarding the Grand Prize in the NFV/SDI category: “The prize was in recognition of the quick achievement of operational flexibility required by 5G, which includes the sophistication of containerizing ADC and CGN solutions that are already in wide use, and the ability to offer CGN/IPv6 solutions in container environments.”
A10 Networks Thunder 14045 TPS is a high-end model in the Thunder TPS series of appliances for DDoS protection, offering the industry’s highest 500 Gbps mitigation capacity. With the addition of ZAP capabilities to the Thunder TPS to automatically recognize the characteristics of DDoS attacks and apply mitigation filters, it is able to provide comprehensive DDoS defense with everything from state-of-the-art automated defenses to practical DDoS threat intelligence.
The judging committee explained the reasons for awarding the Runners-up Prize in the Security category: “The prize was in recognition of achieving carrier-grade defense system performance with automated rule creation and implementation in response to increasingly sophisticated multi-vector DDoS attacks, and sufficiently demonstrating the feeling of increased bandwidth.”
A10 Networks will continue to improve application performance and ensure security in every environment and will continue to deliver high-performance products.
