NEC is a partner and user of A10 Networks. In order to support the Internet access of 100,000 employees in Japan, we have built a platform that can stably distribute traffic to cloud-based proxy services, servers on the company intranet, and connection environments that require unique IPs. A10 Thunder® series was introduced as the core of the data center network infrastructure.

“We at NEC are not only partners with A10 Networks, we are also users. As we migrate our business to the Cloud, we are building a network infrastructure that can be accessed at high speeds anywhere on Earth with globally standardized security.
Cloud-shift means the majority of our traffic will be through the Internet. We view the Internet as the most vital life line of our business, and we are making sure that there will be no performance issues.
It’s crucial that work never be interrupted. NEC has over 300 offices around the globe. In Japan alone, we employ around 100,000 people. All employees are migrating to the Cloud through the use of SaaS type services. An infrastructure to support this is an absolute must.
Although we can handle increased traffic with SaaS type Cloud Access Proxy services, new challenges are beginning to emerge. We deployed A10 Thunder to deal with these challenges. We deployed A10 Thunder as primary Proxy. We configured it to handle the Internet traffic of all 100,000 of our employees in Japan and automatically distribute the traffic to various destinations, including the Cloud Proxy Service.
Even as the cloud shift continues, A10 Thunder will no doubt perform well. We saw it out-performed requirements threefold in our evaluation. Advanced control is easy to configure. Traffic routes can be changed on-the-go, within mere minutes from the time of enquiry.
A10 Thunder ensures that the SaSS type services we use, such as Microsoft 365 and Salesforce, run smoothly without affecting business. The migration does not require any action on the part of the user.
The impacts of system migration can also be minimized because we can change the routes quickly. After migration, users said, “The network had become faster by the time we realized it.” We received high acclaim for improving the user experience. That’s something the catalog specs alone can’t tell you.

With the deployment of A10 Thunder, NEC’s A10 technical team has demonstrated their excellence. Our team provides total A10 customer support from design to operation. As we’ve been deploying load balancers for many years, we take pride in our skill.
Since NEC started our with A10 in 2007, we have installed it on over 10,000 devices. A10 has a Japanese branch, with a lab, support team, and developer team. It deals with the needs of the Japanese market quickly. We believe that A10 is a rare foreign vendor deeply rooted in Japan and we have the utmost faith in it.
That is why we decided to select A10 Thunder. In turn, A10 values NEC’s technical strength, capital investment, excellent quality control, and our many years of know-how. We will continue to work with A10 and leverage our experience as users to benefit our clients.
